Shelter Training 2026 Series

Description

The Shelter Training Institute is a year-long professional development series designed to strengthen the capacity, confidence, and consistency of shelter staff. Over twelve months, participating shelters explore core elements of shelter operations that influence engagement, safety, teamwork, housing outcomes, and overall service quality.

The Institute provides practical and grounded learning that reflects the realities and challenges of day-to-day shelter work. Sessions are interactive and scenario-based, helping staff at all levels apply concepts in ways that build safer and more effective environments. While the Institute draws on housing-focused and trauma-informed principles, its broader purpose is to equip shelter teams with the knowledge and skills needed to deliver effective day-to-day operations.

By taking part in the Institute, shelters demonstrate a commitment to continuous improvement, staff development, and a shared standard of excellence across the sector.
